Provider with newsreader in the browser

Easynews - great service, unfortunately very expensive

Easynews is a Usenet service provider from the USA that differs from many other providers in that it offers browser-based access to the Usenet. This means that users can access Usenet newsgroups, search and download content directly via their web browser without any additional software.

EASYNEWS

6.9

Satisfactory

Positive

  • Great speeds
  • Newsreader in the browser
  • VPN included

Negative

  • Very high price (29.94$ per month)
  • Limited data volume

Speed

9.6

Easynews delivers a very good result in the speed comparison. The test downloads from SBZnzbd can almost continuously utilize the 1,000 Mbit line used up to the theoretical maximum.

As a result, Easynews permanently achieves over 100 MB/s in the test series, which is an outstanding value in comparison.

Services

9.4

Easynews has a very high price, but offers quite a lot in return: unlimited speed, almost 6,000 days of retention, 60 simultaneous connections, a VPN, SSL encryption and support that is supposed to be available 24/7. The highlight, however, is the newsreader integrated in the browser, which we are not familiar with from any other provider. There is no trial period, and there is no unlimited data volume, which we have to criticize given the high package prices.

SEPA direct debit, credit card or PayPal are offered as payment methods. Easynews also remains standard here and does not offer payment via cryptocurrency.

Easynews offers help for newcomers in a large support area, where screenshots are also provided for setting up external newsreaders.

Customer satisfaction & reviews

8.5

Overall, the ratings for Easynews are very positive, with over 1,000 customer testimonials. Customers praise the Usenet experience and the browser-based newsreader. There are points of criticism with regard to support: availability is heavily criticized, with some users reporting that emails were not answered or that the ticket system was defective.

Frequent feedback:

  • Easynews is a Usenet provider with a large selection of newsgroups.
  • Users report good download speeds.
  • Some users had problems with long download times and difficulties contacting support.

Customer support

8.9

Easynews customer service can only be reached via e-mail or a ticket system. It is advertised as being available 24/7, 365 days a year. Both of our test inquiries were answered within a few minutes, which is very positive. However, in each case the answer was not targeted and a help article on a different topic was replied to. Another query, for which we had to wait longer for an answer, brought us to our destination. Overall, we had a very positive experience with Easynews’ support.

Price-performance ratio

3.0

Easynews offers added value due to its user-friendly, browser-based access and integrated search function, which is particularly attractive for beginners or users looking for an all-in-one solution. Easynews also offers many other useful features such as a VPN.

Unfortunately, the offer also comes at a price: the largest tariff costs $29.94 per month after 3 months and only offers 150 GB of downloads per month, making Easynews by far the most expensive provider in the comparison. Even the browser-based newsreader and the VPN included in the package cannot justify this price.

Conclusion on Easynews

Apart from the browser-based newsreader, Easynews offers a considerable feature set, which should easily place the provider among the top providers. Unfortunately, Easynews does not offer a flat rate and the price is very expensive: While the first 3 months of Easynews cost a fair €9.99, the account then costs €29.94 per month, which is simply too expensive and cannot be offset by the many advantages of the provider.
